For Professionals

You solved everything else. Why not this?

Therapy for physicians, attorneys, founders, engineers, and executives — built around schedules that don’t bend, and problems that don’t yield to analysis alone.

Who this is for

Let’s start with insight.

Some people who find their way here are struggling because they sense a lack of insight in a particular domain; its absence is all too noticeable. Others are struggling because insight alone hasn’t been enough. They’re accomplished. Self-aware. Often the person others turn to for advice, steadiness, or solutions. And yet something in their personal life hasn’t yielded to the same intelligence they apply everywhere else. We work with you to better understand the disparity and to bridge the gap.

Working with analytical thinkers and doers

Three questions we hear constantly

Some people are driven toward taking action and solving problems. Scientists, engineers, physicians, attorneys, academics, entrepreneurs, leaders, and executives often arrive here having discovered that career success does not prevent emotional struggle — and does not, on its own, make a relationship work.

They tend to arrive with some version of one of these:

How is it that I have achieved more than most people could imagine, but am unfulfilled?
Why are my loved ones unhappy with me?
Why do I feel so successful in so many other domains, but not this one?
Why analysis stops working

A weight-lifter who only trains one half of the body

Analytical thinkers spend decades developing an extraordinary set of skills: logic, linear thinking, fact-retrieval, the ability to hold a complex system in mind and find the flaw in it. Those skills get rewarded, so they get trained harder.

What often goes untrained is the other half: emotion, intuition, holistic thinking, the capacity to sit with something that can’t be solved. Like a weight-lifter who neglects entire muscle groups, the imbalance eventually costs something, usually in the places analysis was never going to reach.

The work is not to think less. It’s to build the side that never got trained: identifying and tracking emotions, perspective taking, and validation. Used together, both halves make for a far richer life than either does alone.

About time

The scarcest thing you have

The most common reason high-performing people put this off is not skepticism. It’s the calendar. You already know how to solve a problem when you have the bandwidth to attack it, and you don’t have the bandwidth.

So we build around it:

  • Early, late, and lunch-hour slots: while space is limited, we work to accommodate your schedule and adjust whenever possible.
  • Teletherapy across MA, CT, NH, VT & FL: from your home, office, or a hotel room.
  • Goal-oriented clinicians: direct, prepared, and comfortable challenging clients, or being challenged.

“There’s no ‘should’ or ‘should not’ when it comes to having feelings. They’re part of who we are and their origins are beyond our control. When we can believe that, we may find it easier to make constructive choices about what to do with those feelings.”
