LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy
Therapy for LGBTQ+ adults and anyone questioning. In Cambridge, Wenham, and by teletherapy in MA, CT, NH, VT, and FL.

People come to us for all kinds of reasons. For some, identity is at the center of what they want to work on. For others it isn’t, and they simply want a therapist who gets it without needing it explained.
Many LGBTQ+ clients have spent past therapy sessions defining terms, correcting assumptions, or quietly wondering how their therapist really felt about their relationship or their gender. That’s exhausting, and it takes time and trust away from the reason you came.
Every clinician at 1A Wellness is LGBTQ+ affirming, and the practice is committed to staying current through ongoing consultation and training on LGBTQ+ care. Some of our clinicians have made LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy a primary focus of their training and their practice. If identity is central to what you want to work on, we can match you with a therapist whose experience fits what you’re looking for.
Language changes, and identity is personal, so we’ll ask rather than assume. If we get something wrong, we want to know. Being able to say “that didn’t land right” and have your therapist listen, respond, and adjust is part of good therapy.

“Conformity requires us to minimize our differences for the greater good. We fear that if we don’t conform, we will be abandoned, but there is no loneliness like having people only see you after you’ve erased yourself.”
